Linking Audio to Visuals and Applying effects P4 (d)
This is the music track which I used for my music video. The length of this music is about 2 minutes and 35 seconds.According to my storyboard,I have 4 different sections need to put into this music videos.2 and 35 seconds would be really compact. Therefore,I download another version of this music which is the pure piano part.
I cut the song and I used the first 20 seconds to put into my music video which is the beginning.
This is the final version of my music. The piano version allows about 20 seconds extend and that means I have more space to put more videos to link and match with my 4 different sections storyboard.
I added a lowpass to the first music track.(the piano version with 20 seconds at the beginning of the video). This effect would allow the song sounds more suitable as a starter.
The low pass would also decrease the volume and sounds for the first starter piano music. This would allow the main track sounds stronger.
The meaning and purpose of Audio
Audio is sound within the acoustic range available to humans. An audio frequency (AF) is an electrical alternating current within the 20 to 20,000 hertz (cycles per second) range that can be used to produce acoustic sound. In computers, audio is the sound system that comes with or can be added to a computer. An audio card contains a special built-in processor and memory for processing audio files and sending them to speakers in the computer. An audio file is a record of captured sound that can be played back. Sound is a sequence of naturally analog signals that are converted to digital signals by the audio card, using a microchip called an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). When sound is played, the digital signals are sent to the speakers where they are converted back to analog signals that generate varied sound.
Audio files are usually compressed for storage or faster transmission Audio files can be sent in short stand-alone segments -.. For example, as files in the Wave file format In order for users to receive sound in real-time for a multimedia effect, listening to music, or in order to take part in an audio or video conference, sound must be delivered as streaming sound. More advanced audio cards support wavetable, or precaptured tables of sound. The most popular audio file format today is MP3
In my product,I choose the song 'How long will I love you' is a romantic song, therefore,I should allow the audio played relatively slowly to match the video image I took.
Applying Visual Effects P4 (c)
Speed/Duration
First of all,the total length of my music track is about 2 minutes and 51 seconds, this song is not long and in my storyboard,I have got 4 different sections need to fill in.Therefore,I speed up some videos such as many high shots and it could up to 130%.This allows me to have more time to fill more videos from different sections to make my music video more interesting.
Dissolve
I added a dissolve (dip to black) effect between shot 14 and shot 15.Shot 14 is the last video of location 1(room) and shot 15 is the first shot of location 2(bookshop).This effect would let viewers notice that the first section is finished after shot14 and section 2 begin with shot 15.
This effect would allow the end of shot 14 become darker till black and beginning of shot 15 become lighter from black image.
I also added an additive dissolve effect between shot 13 and 14.Because according to storyboard, shot 14 is the memory or actress and shot 13 is actress sitting on the desk and she was recalling memory. Therefore, this effect would let viewers notice the shot 14 was happened in the past and it's the actress' memory.
Purpose and meaning of applying visual effects
In filmmaking, visual effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and / or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot.
Visual effects involve the integration of live-action footage and generated imagery to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, expensive, impractical, or simply impossible to capture on film. Visual effects using computer generated imagery have recently become accessible to the independent filmmaker with the introduction of affordable and easy-to-use animation and compositing software.
Visual effects are often integral to a movie's story and appeal. Although most visual effects work is completed during post-production, it usually must be carefully planned and choreographed in pre-production and production. Visual effects primarily executed in Post-Production with the use of multiple tools and technologies such as graphic design, modeling, animation and similar software, while special effects such as explosions and car chases are made on set.
In my video product, the time of my basic video is tight (How long will I love you less than 3 mins). And I gave 4 different sections to this videos. That means I have to cut some parts and speed many parts up.
Also, this is a romantic song and video. It shouldn't play too fast, the main style should be relatively slowly. Therefore,I can't speed up some parts too much (max 140% speed up).
Producing and reviewing an off line edit P4 (b)
Adobe premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development programs.
I created a new sequence with 1080p24* quality and made sure the capture format is HDV*.
1080p24*
- 1080p means the quality of the video would come out and export as 1080p high definition video.
- 24 means 24 frames per second.
HDV*
HDV is a format for recording of high-definition video on DV cassette tape.
At the left hand of Adobe premiere Pro,these are all the videos which I have imported already.I imported all the selected and renamed videos from the folder where I save my music video.

At the top part, this is the tool sets. The first tool is called selected tool, which allows me to import and select my videos. The 6th tool is called razor tool,it would allow me to cut down the video and change the length of the videos. The second last tool is called hand tool,it allows me to drag and move the videos on the track.
Logging rushes & creating an edit decision list P4 (a)
Adobe premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development programs.
First of all,I create a folder to save all my work.Secondly,I created a new sequence with 1080p24 quality and made sure the capture format is HDV.
This is the folder that I save all the materials,in this folder,I created 4 different to save different shots differentiated by 4 locations. Then I go to each folders select the video which I'm going to use.And I mark them and rename them.
It it important to name the clips.First of all,it's easier to find the clip I want when I was doing the editing process.Secondly, renamed clips give information about the clip.It would reduce a lot of time for the editing process by watch each clip again and again.
These are the shots and my music track that I import from my folder to premiere pro.
This is the working step
Following Production Processes P3 (d)
How used the equipment creatively
I found that the equipment that I used was very important in achieving the overall style and effect we wanted in to show in my music video. The right choice of lens and the lighting were absolutely essential to the success of this production.
Lens 75-300mm telephoto lens was used in the opening sequence and we required this lens to allow the actor to walk from some way off towards the camera and to also provide the shallow depth of field necessary to focus the audiences attention entirely on the actor making him look more isolated from the fast moving commuter traffic. Because we shot this footage from such as long distance we required the tripod to prevent any camera shake.
Tripod:
I had a lot of shots where she was just walking towards me or walking away and I need a tripod to keep a steady shot over a long period of time.
